For its very first exhibition, all members have been asked to donate a work of art to the iNyoka Gallery that will be auctioned off by Charl Auret on 19 September, with the proceeds going to the co-op. There will be live music, snacks and a cash bar, with Safari Wine Club sponsoring a selection of their amazing wines, plus lots of wonderful art on offer. Everyone’s invited to come and celebrate with us and see this beautiful new creative space!

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to learn from well-known sculptor Michael Canadas, owner of the Loop Art Foundry. You can read a bit about him in this article in Country Life. He’ll be hosting a workshop on 26 September in beautiful Haenertsberg. You can see some of his work at the Imbizo Gallery in Hoedspruit’s Kamagelo Centre. He’ll show participants how to make an armature work out of oil-based clay. He’ll also cover the fundamentals of sculpting (proportion, symmetry etc.) In the afternoon he’ll demonstrate a bronze casting. According to sculptor Roger Stones, a course like this will put anyone on the right track to begin sculpting.
It coincides with the annual Spring Festival in Harnertsburg, so why not make a weekend of it?
The course fee covers all instruction and materials and no previous experience in necessary. Contact Roger Stones for more information, including information about accommodation.
This exhibition has been named KO NOKENG – which means At The River – in this case, we will focus on our beloved Olifants River. Joining us on the evening will be AWARD a non-profit organisation, dedicated to a project called Our Olifants.
Come along to hear what exactly it is that AWARD does for our river and all the communities along its banks as well as to experience new art as part of this exhibition.

Hoedspruit’s iNyoka Art Gallery invites you to join their artists on an elemental journey at the opening of their new exhibition on Friday 29 July at 6pm.
“Following on from the highly successful Our Olifants exhibition, this new theme ‘Earth, Wind & Fire’ is open to a wide range of interpretations and we’re excited to see what our artists have produced,” says board member and artist Colleen Wall.
The gallery has partnered with Hoedspruit FM 96.4 for the event. The team from the radio station will be providing the evening’s entertainment, playing a variety of hits from the 70s and 80s. “Aside from enjoying the art and the awesome vibe, the evening is a chance to really get to know the team behind the new station, which like the gallery, is community-driven. We are delighted to have them on board and look forward to working with them in the future,” says Wall.
After a busy winter season, with notable sales by a number of artists, including Vanessa Lomas, Nyaradzi Phiri, Storm Barkas and Boniface Matemba, the gallery is heading into a new phase of strategic planning. “With Khamai Reptile Park, the Laaipunt Farm Stall, Frampton Frames and the delightful Ukuthula Arts & Crafts Shop next door to the gallery, there has been a huge amount of progress made towards realizing iNyoka’s vision. Now we want to brain-storm how to finish the next phase of renovations and get even more feet through the door. We also want to plan how we can better serve our community of artists with events, workshops and a fully-functional, multi-use creative space,” says Wall. Dates for the strategic planning workshop will be announced soon.
“We’re also always keen to recruit new members and anyone who is interested is invited to come along to the opening and see what it’s all about,” adds Wall.
Expect dozens of new artworks, a completely refreshed children’s art section and interesting crafts from Ukuthula; their shop will be open for the evening. There will be light snacks and a cash bar
